SUMMARY:Spitzoid Melanocytic Tumors: Histological-Genetic Correlations: Expert Analysis of 70 Spitzoid Melanocytic Proliferations With Known Genetic Changes
DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleague\,\nWe would like to invite you to the 2021 Dermpedia Course: Spitzoid Melanocytic Tumors: Histological-Genetic Correlations: Expert Analysis of 70 Spitzoid Melanocytic Proliferations With Known Genetic Changes (for more information and to register click HERE).\nThis will be a very special CME-Accredited event (approved for 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™). The live sessions will begin on May 26th\, 2021 (see the schedule below).\nParticipants will have an unprecedented opportunity to review 70 (seventy – this is not a typo!) melanocytic tumors with spitzoid morphology which have been subjected to the most comprehensive Next-Gen Sequencing-based genetic analysis available assessing essentially all oncogenic mutations and chromosomal aberrations including fusions.\nAmple time will be available for the participants to preview scanned slides and to offer their best diagnosis prior to and after the genetic information is provided.\nThe self-study sessions will be followed by live sessions during which Dr. Gerami and Zembowicz will discuss each tumor. The participants will be able to learn the salient histological features of Spitz tumors with different kinase fusions. Most importantly\, the hands-on format of this Course will allow the participants to increase their skills in differentiating between fusion-associated Spitz tumors and spitzoid melanomas.\nDuring the case discussions\, the faculty will share their experience of reporting thousands of spitzoid tumors in our consultation practices. After completing the Course you will know why the molecular information has made this historically challenging area of pathology much easier.\nFor those who cannot attend the live sessions due to scheduling conflicts or time zone differences\, the Course will also be available on demand in the form of video recordings of the live sessions which will be posted on the Dermpedia website for the next three years.\nRegistration for the live Course will also give you access to the on-demand Course at no additional cost\, so if you cannot participate in all the live sessions\, you will be able to catch up later.\nDiscounts are available to Dermpedia Subscribers and trainees. Institutions (Departments\, Societies\, Labs\, etc.) can purchase tuition for their members.\nFor more information and to register go HERE or send an email to courses@dermpedia.org.\nThe Live Course Program (subject to change):\n\nWednesday\, May 26th\, 2021:\n\n7am-8am: Lecture by Artur Zembowicz\, MD: Introduction and Principles of Classification of Skin Tumors according to the 4th Edition of WHO Classification of Skin Tumors (via Zoom)\n8am-9am: Lecture by Pedram Gerami\, MD: Molecular Basis of Melanocytic Tumors (via Zoom)\n9am to midnight: Self Study: Preview of 70 digitally-scanned cases of spitzoid melanocytic tumors. The attendees will be asked to offer their best diagnosis after review of each case before and after the genetic information about each tumor is revealed to them. Each cases will be discussed with the faculty during Case Review and Discussion With The Faculty Sessions\n\nThursday\, May 27th\, 2021:\n\nmidnight to 11am: Self Study (continued)\n11am -1pm: Case Review and Discussion With The Faculty (via Zoom) Part I\n1pm -2pm: Break and Exhibitor Presentations\n2pm -4pm: Case Review and Discussion With The Faculty Part II (via Zoom)\n4pm to midnight: Self Study and Exhibitor Presentations (continued)\n\nFriday\, May 28th\, 2021:\n\nmidnight to 11am: Self Study (continued)\n11am -1pm: Case Review and Discussion With The Faculty Part III (via Zoom)\n1pm -2pm: Break and Exhibitor Presentations\n2pm -4pm: Case Review and Discussion With The Faculty Part IV (via Zoom)\n\nBest Regards\,\nPedram Gerami\, M.D. and Artur Zembowicz\, M.D.\, Ph.D.\nDermpedia (www.dermpedia.org)\nc/o Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates\n152 2nd Avenue\nNeedham Heights\, MA 02494\nTel. 617-549-1168
