SUMMARY:16th European Congress on Digital Pathology
DESCRIPTION:A unique feature of European congress of digital pathology (ECDP) remains the coming together of pathologists and computer scientists and engineers. \nFrom the pathologist point of view\, the ECDP is the event that is announcing\, every year\, how Pathology is changing. The ECDP environment is prone to collaborations and brings unexpected people from distinct areas to meet and start trying to solve specific problems of everyday practice in Pathology. The ECDP is evolving as knowledge on computational and digital pathology is increasing\, creating opportunities for basic science to be translated as validated clinical tools.

SUMMARY:2020 Dermpedia High-Yield Dermatopathology
DESCRIPTION:To all Attendees and Prospective Attendees of the the 2020 Dermpedia Course:\nBelow is an update regarding Coronavirus situation and the Dermpedia Course in Krakow.\n\nIt should be obvious to everyone that due to travel restrictions and ban on meetings the likelihood that we may not be able to hold our event as scheduled is very high. Our May 15 date is still outside of most travel bans\, so I am not formally cancelling the Course yet. This approach is similar to other providers such as USCAP and Jagiellonian University in Krakow\, who cancelled their April but not May meetings.\nA good thing is that we have an excellent back up plan. It is to offer an online Course this year and come back to Krakow in May 2021 with a new program.\n\nThe online Course will be a high-end tv-quality video production consisting of brief lectures\, Q&As\, panel discussions among the faculty and microscope sessions. Due to different time zones of our attendees\, the Course will be pre-recorded and the attendees will be able to stream the event at the time of their choosing. We will use social media to receive and respond to questions. The same number of CME Credits (up to 20) will be offered.\n\nWe have secured a state of the art recording studio and technical support at USCAP facility in Palm Springs. The faculty will meet there to produce a video which will be made available to the attendees on a video streaming platform (still to be determined).\n\nUnfortunately\, the cost of producing and hosting 20 hours of high-definition video is much higher than that of hosting a live event. Therefore\, I would like to know ahead of time whether attendees would accept the online Course as an alternative. If too many attendees decide to cancel their registrations\, a virtual meeting will not be an option due to lack of funds. I am a great fan of live meetings\, but I am sure that we can produce an outstanding online experience of equal or better educational value.\nOne thing we cannot deliver online is the experience of visiting Krakow. Therefore\, we will bring the 2021 Course back to Krakow\, even though our initial plans were to host the Course in Las Vegas. One of the reasons that I do not consider postponing the Course til Fall as a good option is that May and June are the best months to visit Krakow\, when the Spring is in full bloom and the days are long. The 2021 Course will have a different program which will not overlap much with the online Course. We have already secured 3 possible dates. The final date will be selected based on the availability of the faculty.\nI would greatly appreciate if you could answer the question included in the survey below. I welcome suggestions and would like to learn about your particular challenges. \n\nAgain\, thank you for your cooperation and support during these challenging times.\nRegards\,\n\nArtur Zembowicz\, M.D.\, Ph.D.\nDermpedia Founder and Course Director\nProfessor of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology\nTufts Medical School\nc/o Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates\n152 2nd Avenue\nNeedham Heights\, MA 02494\nTel. 617-549-1168\nDERMPEDIA SURVEY
