The consultants must have GMC registration (full or specialist).  Here is the link that they can visit to get registration if they do not have it. https://www.gmc-uk.org/ registration-and-licensing/ join-the-register.  The GMC are very responsive so any queries the Dr may have, they can ask the GMC either by phone or by email.

There are many possibilities as far as job type is concerned.  Hospitals are offering contracts as short as 2 weeks and as long as 1 year and also substantive posts.  For EU passport holders, there are locum contracts available paid on an hourly basis and depending on experience will be anywhere from £50 per hour up to £100+ per hour.  For people without an EU passport, we can offer visa sponsorship for fixed term (usually minimum 1 year) or substantive positions.  Obviously these positions are open to EU passport holders as well if their preference is to be in a fixed term or substantive position.  For this type of position, you are paid on the NHS salary scale and is determined by the years of experience the Dr has.  You can see the scale on this link.  https://www.bma.org.uk/advice/ employment/pay/consultants- pay-England.

There is a massive shortage of Histopathologists in the NHS at the moment and hospitals are always looking for consultants who are looking for work in the UK and Northern Ireland.  The majority of hospitals are looking for general Histopathologists but the main areas of specialty interest are gynae, GI, Breast, soft tissue, lung and urology.
