From the Josep Carreras Institute we coordinate The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Project on Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in USA, and lead by Dr. Manel Esteller.

The goal of the TCGA CUP project is to reach 500 cases of CUPs where we will perform DNA sequencing, copy-number, expression and DNA methylation analyses for each sample. We will be the core reception lab of all the samples.

Regarding biological samples, in addition to CUP samples (FFPE blocks are preferred), we need paired normal counterparts (ideally, 8-10ml frozen blood, or normal tissue).  Clinical information is also needed.

The final delivery of the project will be a publication in Science, Cell or Nature where all the contributing scientists will be recognized as authors and all the data will be publicly available to everyone in the world.

Please share this information with all the colleagues who could be interested and as well as the collaborators you feel necessary to achieve the success of the project.

Attached to the message you will find a summary of the project and the requirements of sample and clinical data. You will see that the collaboration of the oncologists is crucial to collect all the clinical data !
